New Truck, well almost
My old truck backed into a dock in Chicago. I am standing on the opposite curb. Not a lot of room there to put the truck and trailer in that little hole. This is a 91 Volvo with a 48 foot trailer.
My new truck in our company yard. It's a 2002 Freightliner with the same size trailer. It's a much sweeter ride than the Volvo. I get a little over 8 mpg in this as opposed to about 7 in the Volvo.
The new truck holds 100 gallons on either side. I've run 1100 mile before without filling up but the draw pipe stops before it reaches the bottom of the tank so you don't suck debris into the motor. It'll probably run out of fuel with about 20 gallons left in it. I've spent over $500 before filling up. I'm glad the company pays that bill and not me.
I had a 15 passenger van for about a year. We had to sell it because it kept running into things: garages, cars, bikes I could never drive one of those big things - even if it had 30,000 lbs of bananas on it.
I'm a freight hauler and I have the greatest job in the world. I've been married to a wonderful woman for 26 years now and I have three, make that four, mostly wonderful kids. I am an avid reader, when I can stay awake, and I love, absolutely love, classic rock.
"Life is still just life" This is a near-quote from my favorite book, Lonesome Dove , by Larry McMurtry. Augustus McCrae, a fun-loving old Texas Ranger speaks. "You'd be better off if you could just enjoy a poke once in a while." Augustus said, taking one of her hands in his and smoothing her fingers. "Life in San Fransisco is still just life. If you want one thing too much it's likely to be a disappointment. The healthy way is to learn to like the everyday things, like soft beds and buttermilk-and feisty gentlemen."

I'm glad to see you've "gone green" and are concerned about better gas milage.
How many gallons do those tanks hold? What's your range?
